Raspberry pi B+

Just trying out raspbmc on the new Rpi B+, I must admit raspbmc has come a long way in 12 months... well worth another try IMHO, even with an old 8GB Class (2) microSD card it is do-able! Look at the write/read stats below, I wouldn't call them fantastic by any stretch of the imagination, but it still works ok on iplayer/youtube etc.

I'm impressed so far.

Re: Raspberry pi B+

Since it is only buffering the stream, not downloading the whole thing, the speed of the card is mostly irrelevant.
I can stream full HD movies from my "server" to the pi running openelec xbmc, at full def with no buffering, makes a great MPC unit.
Only thing I want to do is replace my old xbox dvd with a newer 360 version, but that requires me to install an IR sensor, no biggie but need to make it acceptable to SHMBO rather than bare wires.
Like the look of the pi+ but can't see me getting one soon.

Re: Raspberry pi B+

I'm not sure what I want to do with this Board yet, I'm still looking for another project. I setup a plex server a few years back and can honestly say I was impressed, especially with the plex android app as a front end controller. Any idea's on the best controller for xbmc ? I have had a go of the droid remote app but it seems very clunky.
I find the new pi to be very tidy, it was just a shame I had to get my soldering iron out on a brand new board though because of poor quality fitting of one side of the usb ports, also the ethernet port wasn't soldered on one side of the chasis either! Nothing too problematic, but not what I was expecting though from a brand new product.

Re: Raspberry pi B+

Proper quality control, would of prevented that from going to market

Re: Raspberry pi B+

I have 3 boards A/B/B+ None of them are what I would call perfect, the A model looked like it had been soldered by a 5 year old, and the B models usb port fell apart the first time I plugged a keyboard into it, I must admit though I like things with a bit of character.
Also it wouldn't be the same present if i sent it back now would it Smiley

Re: Raspberry pi B+

I see yatse diverts the url/stream to xbmc from youtube, does the iplayer app do the same thing? I don't see any option.
Edit: Oh I see now.... lol, just look through the menu from the pad!
