Rant - Windows hiding things

Just had a call for help.
A file was opened from an email and modified and saved using the save button.
Where was it saved - in a folder called Temporary Internet Files / Content IE5 / "some random letters"
Can you see the folder - not without a great deal of fiddling as explorer doesn't see it as it is permanently hidden.
To actually get to it I had to use the Disk Cleanup Utility - now how stupid is that  Crazy

Yup!   Grin
Another little Microsoft foible I've tripped over many times.
I've just got into the habit of using 'Save as' as a way around the problem.  Still very frustrating though Cheesy

Re: Rant - Windows hiding things

Speaking of hiding things - I have just done some updates on an XP laptop that hadn't been connected to the internet for a while. It appeared to be taking a very long time to install IE8. I was about to think I would have to force a restart when I found a window asking for confirmation of the installation that had been opened in the background where I couldn't see it  ::).

Yes, that's a common problem.  It is often made worse if you have logged in via remote desktop.

Sometimes - but not always? Sad
