A file was opened from an email and modified and saved using the save button.
Where was it saved - in a folder called Temporary Internet Files / Content IE5 / "some random letters"
Can you see the folder - not without a great deal of fiddling as explorer doesn't see it as it is permanently hidden.
To actually get to it I had to use the Disk Cleanup Utility - now how stupid is that

Another little Microsoft foible I've tripped over many times.
I've just got into the habit of using 'Save as' as a way around the problem. Still very frustrating though

Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.

Yes, that's a common problem. It is often made worse if you have logged in via remote desktop.
