Printer suggestions please ...

My old HP 3820 has just keeled over and died after nearly 10 years sterling service ... I need a printer.
I don't want a fax
I don't want wireless
I don't want a scanner
I don't want to print graphics
I don't want to print photographs
In an exceptional month I might print 10 A4 pages of black and white text.
It would be nice to be able to print a bit of colour very now and again
Any suggestions?

Re: Printer suggestions please ...

If you think you could do without colour printing, I would extremely strongly recommend a cheap laser printer. Inkjets really aren't suitable for infrequent printing, with their propensity for getting clogged up through lack of use. Furthermore, the quality of ink can deteriorate over time (i.e. years), whereas a laser toner will keep won't suffer at all. The cheapest laser printers can be had for about £50.

Look at Samsung lasers.  Wink
Even the basic colour ones are only just over £100, B&W half that.

and dont forget to look at the replacement toner cost, but it still works out a lot cheaper than inkjet

Re: Printer suggestions please ...

Indeed, and that's particularly the case for someone who uses their printer lightly, as with an inkjet printer ink gets wasted every time you turn it on… so if you only ever turn it on to print one page, you'll get a much lower print yield than someone who turns it on to print 100.
Just to give you some idea, we've not had to change the toner in our laser printer (well, MFC) since we bought it – four years ago!

Re: Printer suggestions please ...

I bought myself a mono Samsung laser printer for about £45. Not sure of the modem model but I'm very happy with it.

Edit: typo

yes, Google shopping is extremely misleading sometimes ... I found a few "laser printers" for about £15 when I first looked ...
