Printer help.

I am a new forum member and not very technically minded, so any help gratefully received.
I recently had to buy a new laptop which has Windows 10. I do find it difficult after Windows 7, but will get there.
It works fine with my plusnet unlimited fibre broadband.
However, I bought my 1st wifi enabled printer yesterday, a Canon Pixma mg 3650.
I followed the instructions and downloaded everything from the Canon website via wifi, I did not use the software cd.
I have the printer wifi on, but cannot print via wifi, only via a connected usb. Nor can I print from my Samsung smart phone.
Any advice for a thicky please?

Re: Printer help.

Why do people keep buying Canon printers?
Especially the wi-fi ones.

Well, that type of reply is really helpful, but at least I tried.
Cheers.

Re: Printer help.

Good Morning Fibresand,
Sorry if these sound like silly questions but can you explain what you have done so far according to the instructions on the Canon website?
Have you put the Wi-Fi password into the printer? Have you enabled printer sharing on your computer (if needed?). Are you getting any error messages when trying to print?

Re: Printer help.

Good afternoon forum,
I have now managed to rectify my printer problem.
Many thanks to the reply which asked if I had programmed the wifi password into the printer, although that wasn't the cause of the problem.
I apologise to the forum and moderators, but due to the response from Vilefox, my visit has been a very short one!
Good luck to all.

I hope a poorly thought response from one person won't stop you visiting again, most here are pretty friendly and willing to help.

Re: Printer help.

I've had poor (and expensive) performance from Canon printers.
The last one ended up in landfill, to be replaced by a cheap to buy and cheap to run laser.
I've noticed quite a few people with non-functioning Canons - especially wifi ones.
So my response was not a "poorly thought response" [sic].

IMO it was a rather unhelpful response to someone in need of help rather than opinion (even the opinion was valid in its self and may have been a lot more positive/helpful if posted in the correct context).
