Printer for colour proofs

Hi there.
Any recommendations for a colour printer?  I want it to be best at printing colour documents (so I can see what something looks like, before I send it for printing at a commercial printers), right to the edge of the paper.  I will also print some colour photos but this isn't as important.  I don't need it to print lots of pages, and I don't need it to print superfast.  I'm using Mac OS X so it needs to be compatible with this.  Also, I'd be interested in the efficiency & cost of the ink/toner system - I'm aware that many printers are sold as loss-leaders, and they make their money on the ink/toner, but I'd like a printer that is a higher proportion of the cost per page than the ink/toner if possible.  My budget might stretch to £200 ish.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Martin

Re: Printer for colour proofs

a home colour print costs at least twice the price of a shop  print, the only thing to be said for home prints is that you can tweak them to your hearts content

Re: Printer for colour proofs

here is a good place to start..... lots of printers, mostly under £100, but lots of "independent reviews" on each model, and a rating system for instant choice..... or as it says at the top of the page

Not sure what to look for? Read our Printer Buyers Guide if you don’t know where to start. Or dive right in and see all our printers. Maybe you’re looking for all-in-one printers or photo printers? Read through the reviews to help you decide what to buy.

Re: Printer for colour proofs

Funny thing is that the forum search doesn't find it.
Now that is interesting - pity I never went to a pub like that.
However there were stories about The Bear in Crickhowell involving a certain Miss Black which would make your hair curl.
