Powerline and XBox360

Thinking about using these http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0084Y9N3O/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OL...
to connect my sons Xbox360 upstairs to my TP-Link router downstairs.
A few years ago I tried some Belkin powerline adapters, but had to return them as I couldn't get them to work.  Could this have been the technology at the time or could it be because we live in an old house with older wiring.  Don't want to waste the money if it is still unlikely to work

Re: Powerline and XBox360

I haven't used Belkin or TP-Link but I do use Devolo.
I bought them from eBay as two sets of two and they work great. We have very old wiring which I think was installed in the 16th century Wink
We're even using them on 4-way extensions although I have read that they can cause some issues.
With the Devolo there are a couple of non-compatible types so you have to make sure they match. Not sure if that's the same with the TP-link or Belkin if you decide to add to them at a later stage.

I've been very happy with these: http://www.amazon.co.uk/TP-Link-TL-PA211KIT-200Mbps-Powerline-Ethernet/dp/B004INVKP4
Unless you are getting fibre or shift lots of data around on the LAN I'm not sure if it's worth paying significantly more for the faster version.

The 200's seem to be aimed at smart tv and such while the 500's actually mention game consoles.
