Port 7457 - Plusnet or not Plusnet?

I've been contacted by Barclaycard to say port 7457 is open on our network and is a potential vulnerability point on our network. I haven't opened this port so how do I check if this port is used by Plusnet for remote access/updates etc?

Re: Port 7457 - Plusnet or not Plusnet?

Fix

This thread https://community.plus.net/t5/My-Router/Ports-4567-and-6161-on-Plusnet-Hub-One-open/td-p/1688887 confirms the use of port 7457.

Hope that helps

Re: Port 7457 - Plusnet or not Plusnet?

Hi @lartingtonhall3 my first thought is did you call them or did they call you? If they called you, can you be sure this is not a scam? Did they want you to allow them to login onto your computer?

You can check the port is open by using a port scanner can you see me?

Port 7457 is NOT open on my Hub One.

Dan

Re: Port 7457 - Plusnet or not Plusnet?

Hi there, no - it isn't a dodgy call. I called them. It's all to do with comms linked to payment machines and such, protecting banks and payment companies from scams and checking out our vulnerability of which this query was the only one. I was happy to close off the port but then if Plusnet do use for updates etc, I'd be shutting them out. Thanks for taking the time to reply. 👍
