Poor wireless connections after changing hard drive

Had to replace the hard drive on my Desktop. Installed no problem and reloaded all my programs.
Internet connected up straight away so did not reload drivers for Modem. Since then the my wireless connection to the lap top is poor. Will connect when first switched on and then connection is lost in about five minutes.
Any ideas?

Re: Poor wireless connections after changing hard drive

Do you have any other devices connecting to your wireless router? You need to make sure your Fragmentation threshold and RTS are the same on all wireless devices.

Nothing change except a hard drive swap to the desktop where the router connects too

Re: Poor wireless connections after changing hard drive

Your not making sense you said changed HD connected straight away so didnt reload MODEM DRIVERS.
If its a router were do modem drivers come into it as you dont have a modem?
Are you connecting from the pc with the new drive via a cable or wireless?

Re: Poor wireless connections after changing hard drive

Installed new hard disk.
Reloaded 'My Documents' from the back up (Not anything else)
Then I was able to connect to the Internet straight away via the hard wired Netgear DG834G Modem Router. Also still able to connect my laptop wireless but lose connection after about five minutes and cannot reconnect.
I did not reload any drivers?
Desktop with new hard disk is hard wired.

Re: Poor wireless connections after changing hard drive

So the machine with the new disk and the machine with the wireless connection are different machines?

Yes!

So how can a wired connection (on a different PC) affect a wireless connection on a lap top?
I assume the desktop doesn't have a wireless and a wired connection?

That is why I am asking. Is it coinsidence? The Laptop connects daily to a Network at work so has something downloaded to change the ability to stay connected?
Desktop does not have wireless and is hard wired.
Reset the modem today and reloaded the drivers. Hard wired all OK. Wireless connect OK and five minutes later I lose the connection.
Maybe the correct question here is what would cause a wireless netwoork to lose a connection after Five minutes without you moving?  Huh

Re: Poor wireless connections after changing hard drive

It could be your network configuration.
For example do you use static addresses?
Does the wireless connection work if the desktop is kept switched off?
If not, you probably ought to post detailed network details.
