Plusnet host?

Anybody here know of host name acs.plus.net [212.159.8.144] and what it is or was for? It is not responding to ping.

It sounds familiar to me, as if I have come across it previously, but I can't identify it. (Automatic Configuration Server?).

TIA

P.S. Anybody know why this editor is so CRANKY? Sad

Re: Plusnet host?

have you tried looking it up on archive.org?

ACS were legal company moons ago threatening tons of PN customers for P2P sharing. Naturally plusnet caved in and handed over lots of customer details on request.. maybe its something to do with that?

thats all i can think of.

I need a new signature... i'm bored of the old one!

Re: Plusnet host?

Nothing to do with the legal company. It's our TR069 provisioning server. i.e. it's used when automatically configuring and remotely managing your router.

Re: Plusnet host?

What does TR069 do to non-Plusnet routers?

Re: Plusnet host?

Good question.

In my case it does nothing to my DrayTek Vigor2920Vn as I've got the TR069 option disabled.  However, I guess it might do something if I were to enable it, but I'm not going to bother trying.

Re: Plusnet host?

Doesn't TR069 work against the serial number anyway, so a 3rd party router wouldn't be in the system even if it was enabled on the router?
