Plusnet assist Query

Hello; I've looked through some of the forum to see if anyone has problems with Plusnet Assist, before I try it.  It seems to be causing some problems for some.  I was wondering if anyone knows whether it's just a new way of collecting information and tracking you wherever you go on the internet.  I don't like such things - too many busybodies around these days - perhaps I'm just getting old...
Can anyone tell me any good reasons to try it?  Many thanks. Jackie.

plusnet assist will help you stay online if you only use basic setups for e-mail etc.  I had customised my e-mail having a domain and e-mail addresses from before I joined and assist screwed it up. I also had problems with Assist telling me I had problems with the web when I hadn't. so I have disabled it.
there are other threads which explain where there are things running in the background but I think the concern there was that they were resource hungry amd may slow your machine down.
i believe that assist is the same programme BT supply rebranded

Thank you Peter.  I will put Plusnet Assist on hold for a while longer.
