Re: Plusnet Checking on Packages?

I'm on 80/20 and will not agree to anything or change my contract till I receive the email then look at my options.  Origin are still looking good with their offer.  If Plusnet match it I'll stay.

What are 40/20 and 80/20?

Re: Plusnet Checking on Packages?

Fibre speeds:
40/20 = 40 megabits per second download and 20 megabits per second upload
80/20 = 80 megabits per second download and 20 megabits per second upload
Plusnet's 40/20 is now 40/2 for new customers.

Re: Plusnet Checking on Packages?

There would be a simple way for Plusnet to confirm that it is them calling without disclosing any information, tell the customer to go to the portal (log in if needed) and go to their questions. Then click go to view closed questions in the last 30 days. Plusnet could then tell them the last question id (first one in the list). If the caller raised an open ticket when making the call that would remove the last step.
All that is needed to make this work is a link on the front portal page to the tickets!

I wonder if they are trying to get people off legacy packages and tied into a new 18-month term?

This is likely to be the answer. However, not certain about the contract terms. I believe there's a few options available if they call.

Re: Plusnet Checking on Packages?

If you Google the number 03451126604 there are a number of sites with people commenting about the cold calls being received from this number. Can Plusnet not leave a comment on these sites confirming calls from this number are from them and providing details as to how they can be removed from the telephone call lists in the future. I would have this this would be of benefit to both customers and Plusnet alike. I have seen other organisations do something similar in the past.

Re: Plusnet Checking on Packages?

As I play online games a 2MB upload speed would, I think, make the games harder to play so thank you for alerting me to the possible dangers of new offers.

Re: Plusnet Checking on Packages?

What games you playing out of interest?
I can't imagine a 2Mb upload speed would cause too many problems.

Re: Plusnet Checking on Packages?

I play Criminal Case where a fast response can be critical when trying to get one of the daily bonuses (bonuses that can be gone in seconds). 2MB upload seems to be one of the slowest upload speeds I have seen for a long time.

Re: Plusnet Checking on Packages?

Hi PaulBenn,
Upload speeds of 2mb shouldn't really impact the performance of games of this type too much.

Are you on 40/20? If so, watch out. If you get a deal at any time it could drop you to 40/2.

Exactly my thoughts
Let's be careful out there !

Re: Plusnet Checking on Packages?

Not sure Plusnet can offer me much at teh moment as I cannot get FTTC as I'm on an Exchange Only line and nobody seems interested in changing that situation.

Re: Plusnet Checking on Packages?

@acr
That idea about marking the number wouldn't work, any more than you should trust an incoming call appearing from the number to be from your bank. (That's if you are lucky to have a number for your branch).
It is no difficulty at all for the spam callers to spoof the number they are calling from I'm afraid.

Re: Plusnet Checking on Packages?

We were actually having a look at that, but thought against it as it's actually a third party that does the outbound calling.
