Phishing attempt in name of Metronet and Plusnet

Received this email yesterday, would you like me to forward it to a Plusnet email address?
Subject:  TERMINATION OF YOUR METRONET.CO.UK WEBMAIL ACCOUNT
From:  "Metronet Plusnet broadband" <4402398854@sbcglobal.net>

We are currently carrying out an upgrade on our system due to the fact that
it has come to our notice that one or more of our subscribers are
Introducing a very strong virus into our system and it is affecting our
Network. We are trying to find out the specific person.

For this reason all subscribers are to provide their USER NAME AND PASSWORD
for us to verify and have them cleared against this virus.
Failure to comply will lead to the termination of your Account in the next
48 hours.

We've managed to get a copy of it, thanks. I'll get a service status posted later today warning of this phishing attempt.
Former Plusnet Staff member. Posts after 31st Jan 2020 are not on behalf of Plusnet.

WoW that is totally unreal,i get a few phising e-mails from time to time but my spam picks them up,i use google mail mostly,i just feel sorry for anyone who falls for it Huh

What's worrying is the fact that people *do* fall for it. Emails like this regularly do the rounds on the Madasafish legacy brands.

We force people to change their passwords every 90 days, and it is one of my systems that emails people warning them they have a couple of weeks left.  You'd be suprised how many people have just emailed me their password in a reply to this email over the years.  The email is very simple with instructions on how to change your password.

I find it enough of a pain already!
Although my Workplace login is different to that of my Workstation (and I have to change each every 90 days).
