Peer to Peer Usage...don't understand it.

I was wondering if someone could tell me what peer to peer is.
This is my second day with Plusnet and I was browsing the internet earlier for about 30 mins, and on my usage page it says I have used 130mb or so on Peer to Peer.
I only use the internet for web browsing or playing world of warcraft, so how is it counting as peer to peer? Yesterday I used 112mb playing wow and browsing the web, so how can I have used 130mb+ earlier and i haven't even played wow yet.
Thanks for the help.

Hiya,
P2P is peer to peer.  It's a file sharing protocol that involves downloading files from a number of shared hosts.
I believe WOW uses P2P to download updates and patches, which I'd suggest might be the reason why you're seeing your usage appear as P2P.

Hi James, I think you may be right. Just after I put my post up my boyfriend realised it was a WoW maintenance day and, as you say its peer to peer so it must have been that. Thanks though.
