P4roblems with XP updating. SP3 wont install

I tried several times to install SP3. It downloads then half installs
It always stops at
Installing file WINDOWS XP LOGOFF
then it freezes
Same each time
The cursor moves but nothing responds
an anyone please advise

I'm also wondering if the fact that theres only 512MB Memory may have something to do with it
?

I just got an extra 2GB from them for about 30 quid. If you have a standard 32-bit system (XP or Vista) don't bother getting more than 4GB as that the most the system will report to Windows. This is a limitation of 32-bit Windows. In practice it is more like 3GB.
Whether 512MB is enough probably depends on what operating system you're using and what you're using it for. It's probably ok for pushing figures around a spreadsheet, but a bit light for photo processing.
