Outlook Express message at login - I don't use OE!

Yesterday and today when I started up my PC and logged in I got a message from Outlook Express offering to compact the folders. I only use Outlook 2003 and Thunderbird.
Tuesday night I loaded the November MS updates and then shut down (without doing the restart) so it's 99.99% certain it was that that's caused it.
Anyone else seeing anything like this?

Re: Outlook Express message at login - I don't use OE!

Yes I am - it was after a recent Microsoft Windows update (which also changed my default email client from Thunderbird to Outlook (which I have never used).  i've now been into Internet Explorer to change my default options back and all is well again.  It really annoys me when MS updates change my settings like this (though interestingly it never seems to try to change my default browser from FF3 to IE)

Thanks. Interestingly it had changed my setting from Outlook to Outlook Express. How dumb is that?

Probably similar to the one which changed my default video player back to Media Player

perhaps thats why I have auto update turned off and just notify, then I go into custom update and check what M$S is trying to do

Think MS learnt its costly to mess with browsers so their programmers leave well alone plus MS are supposedly embracing developers aren't they?
Maybe mail clients are the next battleground?

We get those regularly, but then we're on the flight path from Northolt to Chequers.  Cool
The most impressive (and scary) was a few years back when Dubya visited Chequers - a stream of Chinooks and Apache gunships flying very low up the valley (presumably below radar height) that would have looked just right in Apocalypse Now!  Shocked

I just tried downloading my Camera via USB, The Stupid M$S would only let me use his stupid program and not let me use explorer to put the pics where I wanted.  after a lot of argy bargy, It said  OK do you consider yourself advanced, what me at my age and into comps since 1970. that I eventually got to do something with my camera that I have previously been doing for over a year.  Obnoxious lot those M$S secret upgrades

When you pretty much control a market you can do what you want pretty much
