Outlook Express and Internet Explorer Title bar

I have noticed that the title bar of OE and IE both contain 'provided by Waitrose.com', which was my previous provider.
Why has this not changed now that I am with Plusnet? Is there a setting that needs to be changed?

No, it's because Waitrose provide an "updated" (branded) version of IE, as many ISP's do - rather "over the top" in my oipinion. PlusNet do not, presumably as it's not required.
There may be a simple way to revert to the standard version but I don't know it offhand.

Re: Outlook Express and Internet Explorer Title bar

You would have used an install CD or downloaded a set-up program when you joined waitrose which branded OE and IE. It is simply a change to the registry and not a new application that you have to uninstall.
PlusNet do not use any install software so don't brand OE and IE. Note: the branding has no effect on usage but it can be removed by editing the registry.

I would respectfully suggest that if you don't know why you have a "branded" IE then you definitely don't want to be editing your registry!  Shocked

Thanks for the advice.
I definitely won't be changing the registry (from previous posts I believe its called furtling), in fact I probably won't change anything now that I know that its a benign problem.

Pretty much Smiley
It shouldn't make any difference at all to either your browsing or email.

There are some programs here:

which claim to do the job for you.

Re: Outlook Express and Internet Explorer Title bar

I have used the unbrand prog (unbrand.vbs) listed on www.kitz.co.uk/links/browser.htm to get rid of the branding of a former ISP and found it very easy to use and very effective.
