When I move mail from my inbox to a folder it sometimes crashes. Sometimes mail stays as unread despite the fact I've opened and read it. Ive restarted the machine and done a repair (HELP/Detect & Repair)
Has anyone had a similar problem and found a solution.

You are nearing your storage limit by any chance ?
If memory serves there is a limit on .pst file size.

I would run scanpst.exe after a chkdsk and thorough defrag.
(You should find it somewhere like C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\MSMAPI\1033\SCANPST.EXE )
Then I'd run thorough hardware diagnostics on the PC - could be a memory, disk or other hardware error.
Finally remove & reinstall Outlook, after copying the pst files of course.

I did get an update to Adobe Air ( Iplayer) this morning but the issue started before then. The mail file is 1.2GB and the limit is 2GB so still some head room. I did think that the database must have got in uddle and was looking to see if you can re-index it some how but can't find any way of doing that.
Might try a reinstall; Then thunderbird beckons though I have to be honest I'm not a fan.

Emails from a particular recipient don’t like being dragged to specific folders as it results in a crash.
The first send and receive of the day will usually result in a crash half way through.
The reason for posting was that I thought I might give Thunderbird a go. I have to be honest I did have a try with thunderbird 2 but didn’t like it. I really didn’t persevere though and this seems like an opportunity to revisit. I thought I’d do the outlook reinstall over the weekend so if anyone is kind enough to give a view on thunderbird 3.1 both fans detractors and specially people who have migrated from Outlook that would be really helpful
Thanks

The cure for me - on the basis of a whole week of trouble free use - is to disable the Adaware EMaiil add-in.
All works a treat now.
