Outlook 2003 message area is blank?

I have recently upgraded my Outlook from 2000 to 2003 and find that some message are not displaying anything in the message area. The header and attachments are both visible.
When viewing the same mail with Webmail the content is visible, and I have just installed Window Live Mail, as a test, and find the same messages are also visible.
Does anyone have any idea which setting are incorrect in Outlook?

Reading pane is set to off, but when set, the message just shows the attachment details, no contents. Cry

Re: Outlook 2003 message area is blank?

The usual reason for this is that the size of the reading pane is such that only the headers show and under these conditions there isn't a scroll bar
see the two pictures

Re: Outlook 2003 message area is blank?

I have ticked both options.
Resent messages from webmail, previously with problem, and now whole message is visible.
Thanks very much. I have spent a long time trying to find this answer on the web. Most of the answers are to problems far more complex than mine.
Thanks again.
