Outlook 2003 and MS new updates

I downloaded a compatibly pack a few years ago so I could read docx files with word 2003. Since then I get office 2007 updates and every so often one or two  of them stops outlook 2003 from working,.
Does anyone have the same problem? Happened again this morning - it takes ages going through the updates to find the offending one - grrrrr.......

hasn't affected me but then again I only have essential updates - I ignore the optional ones

I have mine set to 'down load but ask to install' but it went ahead and did anyway. I couldn't find the problem so have had to do a system restore and hidden them all now.

Happens to me 3-4 times a year - a right pain!!

Never to me.  Dare I suggest you have some flaw in the installation or flaw in your operating procedure that is causing the same error to recur?

I don't know what the problem is but it's always to do with Word 2007 compatibility pack updates - but not all of them. Trouble is when it shows there are 18-20 or so it's difficult to find which are the culprits.

I just checked my updates
Office 2007 Compatibility Pack - total 9 - all on 31st January (probably just after I installed it)
Office 2003
Other than the junk email filter on the 10th April the latest is the 9th Jan
Have you checked the installed updates
These are the only ones i have installed
Just checked I only have one optional update left - Bing Desktop v1.2 and they know what they can do with that

I also have 9 total, 8 of those you have OJ but I don't have SP3, it was one that came in today and I removed but it automatically downloaded it again so I've hid it.. The one I have that you don't is KB2539530
tbh I am confused my PC automatically downloaded updates of which my pc said was installing 2  - but when I looked this morning there were about 18 with yesterdays date Compatibly SP3 was one of those the other I have hidden is MS Office suite SP3

Eventually, only the latest service pack is supported, so there won't be any more updates until you install the service pack. After you install that service pack, all the later updates would then appear. KB2539530 was probably included in and therefore replaced by 2007 SP3.
If you didn't install SP3 for Office 2003 then your Office 2003 installation will be missing loads of updates by now, and that could be the problem.
