Opera can alter your IP using two tools:
1) the free VPN
2) and Opera Turbo (now part of data savings settings)
Both need to be disabled.

Only 'Data Saver' needs to be off, as that is the cause of the problem. Presumably from the Amazon CloudFront speedup system. With 'Data Saver' off you don't need the VPN on - in fact, the VPN can't be on with 'Data Saver' on, as they are mutually exclusive.

Meanwhile, some possible good news. I think I may have cracked my separate "Incoming Wi-Fi call" issue (phone won't 'pick up' call). I've changed all my 'Contacts' phone numbers to correct, full International format. We shall see.
🤣
Not then, but later. I eventually - after about three weeks! - learned, as much by luck as judgement, how to (mostly) reliably answer an incoming phone call on an Android based smartphone. Like most things, obvious when you know how. But, so I would maintain, very far from obvious when you don't know. How very different from my old, trusty Nokia 1100.
But I am well on top of it all by now. 🙂

A brief return to this topic, months later. As I am on a very limited 30 days data allowance with my cheap Tesco Mobile Essentials SIM I thought I'd have another go at testing out turning my phone's Opera browser's Data Saver ON - for when I'm out of the house. This time it seems to be working! That is, I can see this site and others that were blocked last time around (some site in a southern US state being 'difficult' at the time with packets coming out of Amsterdam?)
It's feels a little bit more sluggish than when data Saver if OFF, but I can put up with that. I tried some speed tests via my phone, with curious results at first: I was getting a reported 600 - 700 Mbps to my phone via Wi-Fi. That's on a 150Mbps Plusnet FF contract! Then I noticed the 'Nearest host' was in Amsterdam with a reported IPv6 address. Something funny going on there...
It seems to have settled down now. I guess it's also why sometimes now, when I visit this site via my phone, I get paused while I'm first checked out by Cloudflare. I believe this has been reported by others on the forum.
