Do you mean under Properties? It shows the name of the file, the name of the author, the path where the file saved, dates for created, modified, saved and some other statistics. I use it often to check if the version I am working on is on USB stick or on the hard drive.

The word count is constantly shown at the bottom of the word window, clicking it gives statistics, or you can access them from Review/Proofing -Word Count on the ribbon.
Actually everything you have mentioned is available via Office Button/Prepare/Properties – Advanced Properties. If you want you can use the customise option to add the advanced properties icon to the quick access toolbar just next to the Office button.
