OpenDNS

Has anyone used or is using OpenDNS ? If so has this improved your internet connection in terms of speed and is it worth doing ?

Re: OpenDNS

I am using it, it has solved some intermittent issues that I was having - it's probably best to have one PN and one openDNS in your settings in case there is ever an issue with either one.

Re: OpenDNS

I use Treewalk which doesn't do substitutions when you don't get the name right.

Re: OpenDNS

Treewalk is just another version of the DNS client service in Windows which does exactly the same job though granted it might be more efficient.
Personally I think PN need to look at adding more nodes to their DNS resolver service as I think it struggles to cope a little at times.

Re: OpenDNS

Very interesting Barry.
Do you not notice occasional slowdowns?

Re: OpenDNS

Opendns does other things besides DNS like it warns of any false sites and you can setup a free account and restrict access to sites for kids etc. I use it as one dns and plusnet as the other so I get the best of both worlds this way if one goes down I carry on as normal
