Hi can anyone help Need to open ports in order to connect a card reader machine i use for working form home. Any ideas as plusnet wouldn't help
Further I have connected my card reader machine and gone into router setings to try and add port forwarding manually. however, the router is not showing the card reader machine in the list. it shows my lap top both wireless and wired connections and my mobile phone. But not the card reader?

You need to figure out why your card machine is not getting an IP address from the router. With port forwarding, you need to have a dedicated/fixed IP address for the device you wish to port forward to e.g. 192.168.1.100, so the router knows to forward the port to that particular device.
