OS X 10.11 is expected to be shown off for the first time at WWDC 2015, which takes place on June 8 - 12.
Public release expected in October 2015.

Public Betas of this and iOS 9 have just been released as well.

It's official: OS X El Capitan releases September 30

Apple pushed the Golden Master version of its latest operating system to developers and its public beta program members, and revealed the new Mac OS will be ready for public consumption on September 30.

OS X 10.11 El Capitan is NOW released to the Public, as a FREE upgrade Download.
If you are in the UK, I recommend you wait until after Midnight to download, when Plusnet Broadband is back to normal speed.
File size, depending on your configuration, is up to 6.08GB
