Noddy`s Guide for Windows Movie Maker ?

I have got a load of vids that I need to shorten at both ends... to take out unncessary noise, adverts, applause etc.,
Is there someone who is familiar with this operation, using Windows Movie Maker (VISTA home premium) that could write me a "Noddy`s Guide" Please
........ starting with
Get file from folder.>...............
and ending up with
    .......>save new file as ********************* .wmv...... in  destination folder
I have tried several times, and don`t seem to have grasped a few bits to make it successful... as I have a lot to do, I can`t see myself pratting about trying to get some sort of "workflow" to make it a feasible job, 
Please send PM with instructions so I can print them out....

Not familiar myself but if anybody is then why not head over here and write a tutorial for the masses?
