I recently purchased a Nikon SLR Camera which I am really pleased with. However, the software that came with it is useless. Every time I try to open it I get the message - "ViewNX has stopped working." I have tried every solution posted online, including, using the latest version, running as Administrator and downloading the latest version of Quicktime. I am now reaching the time of desperation hoping thatt someone on the forum will be able to help. I am running windows 7.

Did you install the 32-bit or the 64-bit version?

I don't know that software specifically, but generally software that comes with cameras etc is fair average rubbish.
You will probably be better off with good free offerings such as Raw Therapee (http://www.rawtherapee.com/) for processing and Picasa (http://picasa.google.com/) for management.

Okay, that's unusual - most Windows 7 computers run the 64-bit version. Did you really install viewnx2 but get an error message about viewnx or is that a typo?
There is some sort of Nikon cleanup utlity to wipe the slate completely clean and start again after you have uninstalled software. Here, I think http://nikonasia-en.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/7361/~/regsweeper2---registry-key-deletion-...

The easy way to find out if it is 32bit or 64bit is too look in the C: drive
Do you have two folders Program Files and Program Files (x86) if you have it is the 64 bit version
