New years TECH resolutions?

Thought i'd put a new spin on the resolutions tradition.

What are your resolutions for tech in 2018?

Think mine are going to be:

  • Stay with the same phone
  • Actually do something with the RPi that is sitting redundant in the drawer
  • Get back into electronics properly instead of just replacing duff parts
  • Get the car ECU repaired
  • Actually get some software projects finished!
I need a new signature... i'm bored of the old one!

Re: New years TECH resolutions?

Starting this year with:

  • Buy a Firebrick 2900 (Jan 2018 Launch)
  • Complete VLAN Partition of Network (after I get the 2900)

Then in no particular order:

  • Upgrade VoIP Phones to Video
  • Finish my Media Server / Client Software
  • UPnP Router / Modem Status Monitor (Pi Based with LCD) Wink
  • Get rid of some of the old tech I have in the garage

Currently awaiting delivery of an Ltl Acorn 5310A trail camera.

Hoping to catch activity at the bird table, and find out what my cats are doing at night.

And next summer, who knows? Usually self-catering somewhere remote, so may be able to record some deer, badgers etc.

Maybe I should get one of them @198kHz so I can see the fox that insists on plopping on my patio every other day!

Re: New years TECH resolutions?

Think i also need to add doing something with my arduino and RF modules. I have two big traks to convert but still not done it yet. I've always been fascinated by radio controlled stuff (yeah i know odd considering my concerns over RF radiation right - i'm weird like that).

Re: New years TECH resolutions?

To buy 2 more camcorders with hard-drives and remotes (and a few spare batteries) so that I can finish my fishing DVD off. I only have spring and summer to do and add a few bits and pieces that those new to fishing can easily make at home. The tech bit?..go through the net and find a decent video editor that can put scrolling credits at the end.

I have the 5210A and got some interesting footage of a fox in the garden at about 3am.
