New public DNS servers

Just seen an announcement of new public DNS servers from a massive internet company. The IP addresses of the servers is very easy to remember:
8.8.8.8
8.8.4.4
Has anyone tried using them yet?

I've configured one as my secondary but am unlikely to use it as my primary as Plusnet's servers are always going to be geographically closer to me. Some of the comments regarding Privacy and lookup speed etc. here are quite interesting.

I'm using them on my main PC to see what performance is like.
The statements on privacy seem OK at present, but who knows what they'll want to do with the data in future.....

Some of us like the features that OpenDNS brings... also you're telling me that one of the biggest online ad companies isn't going to do something?

If people are clicking links in the Google results and failing to reach the sites because of DNS failures do you not think that is sufficient self-interest for Google to provide a reliable DNS service?
