Hmm, well I was right about a network with the same name and different settings. But the new laptop should be able to tell the difference between WEP and WPA and if the router was hitherto always set to WEP and you just changed it to WPA then your old laptop that could connect before might well have difficulties now (which you can fix by analogy with the fix suggested earlier).
