New download speed test site

Yet another speed test site but this one is brought to you by Netflix. Yes the TV streaming site has create a quick speed test using their own delivery servers.

It doesn't use Flash or any add-ons but does run as soon as the web page loads. There is no interaction with you. And it is quick to run.

Try it at https://fast.com

Re: New download speed test site

@w23

That's too slow Smiley , 20 seconds is way too long to wait. The Netflix one is 7 seconds on my PC.

Yes I've tried that TTB quicky one but prefer their Flash based on as I like the x1 and x6 testing which highlights gateway issues for me.

And yes the Netflix speed results are consistent with TTB.

Re: New download speed test site

Just done two tests on each of those,,.... both give about the same result... 5.4 Mbps  whereas my Routerstats is showing 6.655

I am on a Wireless connection about 18 inches below the router... ! Router is the Technicolour 582... It would probably gain a bit more if I used the cable connection to the router....

Grrr.

Still locked at 34 Mbit on my crippled infinity 2 BT... EFFING BT!

I really hope, come Monday, PlusNets will deliver at least the 45 I was getting 2 months ago on BT (they've lot a happy 5 year customer over this!)

Re: New download speed test site

3.3Mbps

I reckon we'd get faster speeds on ADSL again rather than this fibre malarky that is now delivery slower than ever speeds. Heck... probably best to tether to my mobile.. tesco will deliver at 18Mbps...

EDIT: That said, the second test came back better... at 19Mbps....

I need a new signature... i'm bored of the old one!

Re: New download speed test site

It was actually by using this site that I realised I had an issue with one of my connections.

WAN Speed

So with a bit of luck that will get resolved tomorrow.

Re: New download speed test site

Fast shows me on 33 - down from 45 last month on Infinity fibre 2 "up to 76" - and they called me a liar when I sadi I had 45 for 4 years and suddenly dropped to 35 a month ago!

Plusnet on Monday, 23rd...

Plusnet better be a damn sight faster or I'm cancelling the contract!

Re: New download speed test site

Fast has me as 68mb, TBB 67mb. I'm not arguing about a mb.

Lately though I have been creeping up on speed. Was about 65mb but now seeing 72-74mb/s on TBB x6 burst

Ever helpful. Grin Sure, I’d love to help you out. Now which way did you come in?

Re: New download speed test site

UPDATE

Plusnet is now active and the first speed test shows 46 MBit - faster than the 4 year BT speed!

It ranges, depending on speedtest, from 43 to 46 - on the same line as BT's ****** 33 MBit.

Keep it up PNet and you'll have a long term happy customer!
