Have just been looking at a mate's new Laptop Lenovo G570 with the following facility,
Lenovo OneKey Rescue System 7.0 function description
Lenovo OneKey Rescue System 7.0 includes two parts:
Part A: OneKey Rescue System (Press Novo button to log in under shutdown state)
Part B: OneKey Recovery (Software under Windows)
Besides backing up and restoring system, the software also provides many useful functions.
Is this just a quick way into windows system restore or is it a specific piece of software only available on these laptops ?

I think it's just a fancy marketing name for the option to reset to factory settings and lose all your data.

I thought it sounded too good, however if you have kept stuff on an external disk I guess it could be a useful facility for anyone with minimal knowledge to be up and running fairly quickly following some problem that prevented the computer from booting up correctly.

No for that you can boot to Start-Up Repair mode and run System Restore. A factory reset is really the option of last resort because you have to re-install your security software, printer, all those Microsoft updates so it's quite a lengthy business even if you know your away around a computer.
