Hi, just wanted to put a last update in. I checked the line yesterday and the crackling had gone and I now get about 35Mb down and up to 8Mb up which is great. The engineer turned up this morning who said that they had probably been doing work which had ended up clearing the issue on my line. Interestingly enough, last weekend the line dropped off completely a few times on the Saturday morning which I guess could be related.
Anyway, I'm all sorted and happy.  Smiley Thanks for all your help.

Oh dear, spoke too soon. The noise is back and worse than ever. I logged the request yesterday morning. Just waiting for someone to pick the ticket up.
