Re: More digital radio stations. Ofcom - finally - proposes DAB+

I wonder whether we *really* want even more radio stations spouting out little other than pop music and advertisements.
I use four channels regularly plus a couple of others from time to time and if they were not available on our several FM sets regularly in use, my radio listening would be much reduced as I would be unwilling to replace all the sets obtained over many years.

How many existing DAB players will become redundant?

I still prefer choosing FM rather than DAB on my hifi as to me it sounds better.

I have a DAB radio at work just so I can listen to BBC 6 music, it's a real shame that such a brilliant BBC radio station isn't available to more people to experience just how good it is by broadcasting it on FM.

Re: More digital radio stations. Ofcom - finally - proposes DAB+

We have a DAB radio at home .. but we only use it for stations that are also available on FM.  I say "we": I only use it for Radio 4, the missus occassionally listens to other stuff.
When I serviced my car last week I got a loaner with a DAB radio and it was hopeless: kept losing the station in areas where I never lose the station on FM.  That despite it claiming it had a fall back to using FM when it lost the DAB signal.  I was not impressed.

Analogue signals will always perform much better than digital signals in areas of poor signal strength.
