Hi all, looking for a bittle of help/info!
I am about to get a laptop and was considering mobile broadband PAYG for when i cant access a wifi network/hotspot.
My question is? (as it appears to be quite expensive to top up)
I have a mobile contract with 02 that includes 'Unlimited' (500mb) of data usage. Instead of buying a mobile broadband dongle, could i plug my phone into the laptop and use my existing 02 data when required? I suppose it will be determined by whether the mobile needs to dial up a connection or if it can use the existing 3G connection.
I hope this makes sense!

Depends on your phone and your OS on the laptop. It should be possible though.

As I understand it that would also depend on your provider allowing tethering.

You would need to read the terms and conditions of your particular contract with O2 to see if tethering is allowed.
Although I'm not sure how they would be able to tell

There are always dire messages about NO TETHERING allowed, but 99.9% of users that do so have never been bothered about it.
If your mobile s/w allows a connection to be made via the phone then go ahead and do it, as long as you don't exceed your allowance I don't see the issue really.
