Missing dll message

Trying to install a program I get a message it cannot install as MSVCR100.dll is missing.....
Looking in the system32 folder I can see it is there
Looking in the syswow64 I can see it is also there...
Ok so possible it’s got corrupted in some way but looking in windows old I can see a copy in both of the above folders so copy and paste these into the above folders but problem still exists....
Accept these copies could be corrupted as well, as I understand it this dll is part of a microsoft package dated 2010 and has something to do with C++
No idea about programming languages I would prefer to avoid downloading anything from Microsoft as I will get lumbered with all the missing updates.
Anyone any thoughts on this.
Re: Missing dll message
I had seen that site before but rather than downloading the who package I wondered if there was a way to download the single file from a trusted site.
