When is the next major update for LMDE Mint expected?

Re: Mint 16 KDE xfce

Thanks - it's a bit weird, not getting frequent updates.

Re: Mint 16 KDE xfce

You still get the essential ones, but not all the others.
The SP is a bit like a dist upgrade, takes a while to install  Shocked

Re: Mint 16 KDE xfce

Like I said....... A bit like Windows.....
Did an update this morning on my FREE wifi SAMBA dongle.... took 10 minutes to download, install and re-boot... so faster than Mint on this occasion !

Re: Mint 16 KDE xfce

Not at all like M$. unless you can update your XP to W7/8 for FREE and then to the next version again for FREE?  Grin
With LMDE it is a ROLLING update. You NEVER have to re-install it or install a new version it is kept up to date with new releases as required.
And usually NO REBOOT is required unless a new kernel is installed.  Wink

Re: Mint 16 KDE xfce

When I did the initial install, the download was about 5 months out of date.
It only took about 15 minutes to load the missing software instalment (I've got a good fibre connection).
It's not like one of those awful Windows service packs and you can generally still continue
to safely run various other tasks, although I tend to follow the install log, to see what new
stuff is being added/updated.
