Microsoft warning over browser security flaw

Quote
Microsoft has issued a "critical" warning over a newly-discovered flaw in Windows.
In a security advisory, the company warned of a loophole that could be used by malicious hackers to steal private information or hijack computers.
The bug potentially affects every user of the Internet Explorer web browser - around 900 million people worldwide.

Re: Microsoft warning over browser security flaw

With the History that IE has got in terms of security I have little sympathy for those who use it and get clobbered due to security flaws when alternative programs like Firefox are available.
Using IE is like sticking your hand in the fire after you have been burned on previous occasions.
True no browser is 100% safe but a check of the statistics show that Firefox and some other browsers are safer than IE hence the ever increasing numbers moving away from IE

Re: Microsoft warning over browser security flaw

With MS it seems that for every patch they introduce they introduce further vulnerabilities. You have to wonder don't you.. are these patches worth the bother?

Re: Microsoft warning over browser security flaw

I've got a XP laptop.
I stopped applying any patches, several years ago, apart from those for the 3rd party firewall.

Not really...
Firefox is just as bad, if not worse
The fact that the media pick up on IE cockups? hmm,
"Stupid UK"? So im stupid for using IE9 with hardware acceleration that actually works?  Roll_eyes
Personally, i use chrome / FF and IE. but IE is my main port of call, Chrome for google services (just.. cause?) and FF for Banking. (Clears all cookies etc. etc on close, saves opening an inprivate browsing session)
Theres always gonna be a "FF > IE" argument. But tbh, its crap.
Dont kid yourself into thinking your secure, just cause your using Firefox to browse your porn. Grin
