May a non PN home phone user ask a question?

I trust you will indulge me! Smiley

Twice today I phone my daughter, Her phone service is IIRC with Virgin. Each time I hear her voice and give my message, but she does not hear, and something seems wrong and she doesn't respond to my questioning if she has heard.

I then ring again, and the connection is made and the message is properly heard and acknowledged.

Is there a reason at my or her end for this oddity; can anyone tell me what it is?

No one has to agree with my opinion, but in the time I have left a miracle would be nice.

Most likely a dodgy port in one of the exchanges.

Hmmm, my other calls today to other numbers were no problem. The called number is in Bristol, and is served by Virgin.

Strangely enough, until a clued-up OR engineer changed the pairs on my connection, calling my friend in Brighton - another Virgin customer - used to mess my phone. May have been a coincidence, because calls to and from my Virgin-connected mum didn't have the same effect.Huh

Moderator's note:

I have moved this to Tech Help as it doesn't appear to be an issue with a PN service.
