MSE message

[quote=MSE]You haven't run a scan on your PC for a while. This could put your PC at risk.
The above is the message showing within minutes of completing a Custom scan where I selected both partitions on the laptop and excluded the DVD although it was greyed out anyway.
Do I assume that doing a Custom scan this way is not as complete as selecting Full Scan?
I had updated the definitions before starting the scan.
I also have a full scan schedules for 08:00 every Wednesday. If the laptop isn't on at this time would a scan take place as soon as it is (actually, it's rarely off but in Sleep mode)?
Even with the schedule scan I seem to get the above message every time I run MSE.

Re: MSE message

Custom and quick scans can miss hazardous files which is probably why it is reporting it as not safe, so best to do a full scan once a week

Thanks.

Re: MSE message

Scheduled full scan is every Wednesday at 13:00.
Last scan is shown as 17/10/2012 at 12:36 (Full scan) - It did perform the scan as I remember hearing the drives being accessed at the time.
Definitions last updated: 19/10/2012 at 17:29
Yet I am getting the following message:
Quote
PC status; Potentially unprotected

Quote
You haven't run a scan on your PC for a while. This could put your PC at risk.

Real-time protection: On
Virus and spyware definitions: Up to date
Anyone have any ideas why it should give the 'Potentially unprotected' message?

Re: MSE message

I've only just noticed this thread but if you are still interested the problem might be linked to use of CCleaner. .  It seems to make MSE "forget" what it has been doing. This can be overcome by unticking MS security client from "applications" before running CCleaner.

Re: MSE message

I have done as you suggested but it doesn't seem to have made any difference.
It will do a scheduled full scan tomorrow so will see what happens after that.

Re: MSE message

Full scheduled scan yesterday yet still MSE tells me I may not be protected.
Updates every day and just updated to the latest version of CCleaner.

Re: MSE message

Very strange that. Since I unchecked  "Applications> Windows>MS security client"  I've had no more weird warnings.
Maybe someone else can think of another suggestion?
