Lost spam

I have just accidentally marked an email as spam which as well as marking as spam in the system, should move it into the trash file.

Unfortunately it has not appeared. I don't have a file titled "spam" so cannot even look for it in there.

It's a reasonably important email and wonder where it could have gone - any ideas ?

Which email client was you using?

Think the problem is that it was a reasonably old email and due to it's age probably immediately deleted (?)
