Lost my speaker icon.... NEW POST !

Windows Vista Home Premium.....
I seem to have lost the speaker icon from next to my clock, on the bottom tool bar... Undecided
have tried to find it in the "control panel", but the only thing I could find , edit (Task bar & Start Menu Propertys ) actually had the little box greyed out. so could not put a tick in it. !
any ideas how to get it back?   Huh
(yes I can get one on the screen from my keyboard, but I prefer the one that was on the taskbar, a couple of days ago.... it is easier to control from there, using a mouse)

Right-click the System Tray, then click Properties and there should be a selection box allowing you to display the clock. If this is greyed out then I'd suggest rebooting your machine. It happens with my work lappy on occasion which is running Vista Business.

Re: Lost my speaker icon.... NEW POST !

Thank You Old Jim !.... I used "method three".... download a couple of .reg files, re-booted, and then right click on the taskbar.,to restore the greyed out boxes.. two ticks later,, and the speaker is there, and also the power (which was also lost)
Thank you...  Wink

Re: Lost my speaker icon.... NEW POST !

It' strange how these 'standard' bits of windows (tm) can just dissappear, glad you have solved the problem but beware it might happen again (or a different problem of a similar general type).
A more reliable, long-term solution: Install Linux Grin

I don`t eat yoghurt...... I don`t like broccoli....... and a whole load of "other" things that are supposed to be good for me.    Roll_eyes  ....
Linux seems to come into that category.... Grin
