Linux Mint Web Site (Time sout)

According to a search linuxmint.com is the official site for this distro, but I can't get to it as it times out, am I the only one?

Nope timing out for me as well. blog.linuxmint.com is ok though.
Beta has been released for Cinnamon just grabbing it.

Timing out for me too.
You can always download from one of the mirrors though

You can't get the web site from the mirrors, the blog has a list of mirrors for the beta.

Re: Linux Mint Web Site (Time sout)

Thanks guys. Using the mirror I can now do a download but I want a minimal download with the lightest weight GUI I can get, so no KDE, from memory XFCE may be what I want but what is Mate? And what's it's GUI?

Re: Linux Mint Web Site (Time sout)

Mate IS the GUI, it is a port of Gnome 2, I used it by default till earlier this year, still not sure about Cinnamon yet, this is the only pc I have running it 😉
The extra's usually launch later than the releases of Cinnamon/Mate so early Dec for xfce/kde etc.

Re: Linux Mint Web Site (Time sout)

Haven't found any issues so far. Nothing changed as far as I can tell not read the change log yet  Wink
Just checked the changes list:
Quote
When a Broadcom chipset is detected, along with the recommended Broadcom STA drivers, the Driver Manager now also lists B43 installers (note that these options do require an Ethernet connection).

Useful if you have a BC wifi chipset.

In addition to traditional status icons, the Cinnamon system tray now also supports indicators.

Had to disable them as my cairo-dock systray stopped working with indicators - this was in the Cinnamon 2.8 release that I updated to a month or so ago.
