If this is based on 10.10 Ubuntu, it's probably not worth upgrading a desktop.
There is almost no apparent visual change and functionally appears no different.
[At least not for any applications that I use]
I would guess that all the changes have been concentrated in the netbook area.

Just installed it on this PC. So far, new icons and fonts are about all I have noticed.
The search in the menu now offers to search Google as well as the repo's

Seems the new RC has brought the website to its knees.
Currently says:-
Nice to know you are popular
But I wish people would use the torrents, I got it down in a couple of hours.

We apologize for the downtime. The release of Linux Mint 10 RC seems to create a huge amount of trafic and our server is having problems coping with it.
Please be patient while we're addressing the issue.

I always download my distros via torrent, the bonus being it gets check summed. First time I ever tried Linux I had a headache getting it installed and went all round the gardens before finding the image I downloaded from the browser didn't add up. The one I burned verified with the image it was the actual download that was corrupt.

I download a torrent (and leave it running long after I get 100%) so that I get a live CD to test and keep.
If all looks well, I upgrade in situ (not using the download).
