Lightscribe

Hi folks.  I have an external HP Lightscribe drive which is OK.  The problem is that it is a bit slow for making lightscribe disks.  Are there faster drives or does the speed depend on the lightscribe cd?
Thanks

20+ min to write a disk image  Crazy
My new blu-ray writer does lightscribe but I have never used any of them, I have a Canon printer that prints cd/dvd's directly if I need an image on it. My (now sadly deceased) mate used to love them but the cost of the media always put me off trying one. (Plus the fact it is only monochrome)

I find that a permanent marker is much cheaper - and you can cross out any errors / rewrites etc.

I have a blu-ray drive that lightscribes and unfortunately it just takes ages, its not the discs, its not the drive.....it just takes ages!

Re: Lightscribe

Morgan 2476,
Labelling time depends heavily on content, hardware, media and print mode used.
Typically for title only content, a labeling time of 2-5 minutes can be expected.
For full disc graphics in Best quality mode, labeling times of 20-35 minutes can be expected.
Professionals are predictable - it's the amateurs that are dangerous!

Re: Lightscribe

I have a Lightscribe DVD RW but remember reading somewhere that there is a chance that using the Lightscribe effect can actually render the whole drive useless.
Wish I could remember where I read it. Consequently I have never used the lighscribe.
TBH I think it's more of a gimmick that useful anyway.
