from the original supplier @ £138 inc VAT Shocked

Sounds about right, the OEMs want you to not repair or replace slightly outdated parts, but instead replace the unit as a whole, so they charge extortionate prices like that, heck, the laptop I'm presently using cost me less than that to buy 2nd hand... Shocked
Still, at least you're not footing the bill... Smiley

WoW I bought a 2nd hand laptop for just over half that. The battery/useage stats showed it had been used for 20 DAYS only.
T61 nice little lappy.

Though my battery's pretty tired, still works for half an hour though, it's meant to be an extended capacity model aswell, might just rebuild it at somepoint... Smiley

Re: Laptop turns off when charger unplugged...

Just an update...
I haven't got round to replacing the battery yet but when I moved the laptop a little while ago the cable popped out but the laptop stayed on!
Over an hour later it is still on happily playing music and charging my mobile Smiley

Re: Laptop turns off when charger unplugged...

Possible fault..... cracked solder on joint where power socket joins the main circuit board...
Last time you plugged it in...you made contact ! and it has charged the battery...
If you can`t do it yourself.... see if anyone can re-solder the power socket to the main board...

Re: Laptop turns off when charger unplugged...

Not sure that is the case considering that previously the battery was showing as fully charged but still turning off.
Maybe the fault is still there but intermittent.
It's now well over two hours with 30% (35 min) battery power left.
