Laptop touchpads

I loathe touchpads...
My previous defunct laptop touchpad had a button on it to switch it off (wonderful) The replacement laptop doesn't have this button and I constantly when typing inadvertently touch it and do something I don't want.
I realise, that I can disable the pad in Device Manager, but in the event of a crash, I may not have the use of a mouse.
Is there a keyboard disable/enable option?

Re: Laptop touchpads

If you are using Win10 try Settings/Devices/Mouse & Touchpad/Related settings/Additional Mouse Options.
You can then disable internal pointing devices when usb mouse attached.

Re: Laptop touchpads

True! I use this on my laptop together with an MS Bluetooth mouse!
The touchpad remains active until I use the BT mouse then it's disabled!
