Laptop slow start up after windows 10 update

Since the latest Windows 10 update my laptop i5 6GB Ram  which normally started very quickly after shutdown was slow

I changed the Power options its now quick again

Type power options in search you will get Power & sleep

RHS  click on Additional setting

LHS click on Choose what power button does

Check if Turn on fast start up is ticked if not click on Change setting that are not currently unavailable

You can now tick the fast start up box

Don't forget to Save Changes

Hope this helps anyone who has had the same problem  and a happy Christmas            Brian A

Re: Laptop slow start up after windows 10 update

I've always found updates to Windows more likely to turn Fast Start Up to ON rather than OFF

Thanks @Anonymous - that probably explains why my mums' machine slow to start - I'll give it a look over next time I boot it.

Re: Laptop slow start up after windows 10 update

I have a computer that dual-boots between Windows 10 and Windows 7.  This is incompatible with fast start-up as Windows 7 sees all connected hard drive partitions as not correctly shut-down.  So I turn off fast start-up but every Windows 10 version update so far has turned it back on.

Re: Laptop slow start up after windows 10 update

It's very misleading.

This "Fast" thing just pretends that Shutdown = Hibernate Angry
