Joining Plusnet

Hello. After being a VM customer for a few years, we have decided to move as we're not in a VM Cable area. This means that we have ADSL broadband, and we'd like to switch to cable broadband. I've read that no MAC code is needed when switching from non-cable to cable as it's a completely different system, and it'd be nice to avoid the hassle of being thrown about telephone lines, listening to some pop music. However, after booking an engineer appointment, we've been notified via email and SMS that a MAC code is needed to progress. I'm just wondering if we can avoid the hassle of getting a MAC code since we apparently don't need it as we're switching to cable broadband from ADSL?

Re: Joining Plusnet

Hi domino - Welcome to the forum Smiley
Plusnet don't supply cable broadband.  Their products are either ADSL or VDSL (aka FTTC aka Fibre) based services and they are delivered on your phone line.  You're correct that a MAC isn't needed to move to/from a Virgin Media cable product as a migration does not take place.  Moving between different ADSL or VDSL providers does require a MAC however.
