Jerky IMDB trailers (HD)

I thought I'd better start a new topic in a more appropriate location.
Since being moved to a 40MB fibre optic broadband we are getting sppeds up 35MB - so far so good.
YouTube videos play great, no buffering etc however when playing HD trailers from www.imdb.co.uk, the picture is jerky as if frames are being skipped while playing the trailer.
Its not our pc, CPU usage is around 55% so what might it be?
Any ideas?
Thanks

Tried the above and it is coming down at a steady 4Mbps or a bit more with no problems and the buffer is running ahead of the play point
However checking another one and I notice two things - the CPU usage peaks up to about 70% and it keeps downloading even when the video is paused so try pausing the download and then restarting it  - I monitored the download using Bandwidth Monitor

I've just tried it and am seeing the same - CPU is around 50% on my PC.

We did try pausing it and restarting it. The download is fast enough, it seems to be just the playing of this film clip.
Can you try the Thin Ice trailer?

Which BandWidth monitor do you suggest?

Re: Jerky IMDB trailers (HD)

That clip played OK in HD. I think the difference may be that yesterday I had a Windows Virtual XP machine running and a VPN and remote desktop open.
The best bandwidth (and usage) monitor by far is http://www.softperfect.com/products/networx/

Re: Jerky IMDB trailers (HD)

I use Rokario as it is easy to check speeds quickly unlike Networx which does a whole lot more
I can't check at present as you will see from my new thread the silly so and so's have throttled my connection

Re: Jerky IMDB trailers (HD)

55% CPU - is this overall percentage or on a particular processor core?
For a dual-core CPU (or Hyper-threading single core), 55% overall would imply that the thread is maxing out the core its running on (50%).

Running the trailer in HD without problems - download is running ahead of the play point and this is what my connection/CPU usage is showing

Re: Jerky IMDB trailers (HD)

An update.... I didn't download Rokario cos my anti-virus protection didn't like it  Undecided
I'll check the spec of my sony vaio laptop and get back to you. It's 2/3 years old. At the time we bought it it was a high spec and has the facility to burn blu-ray disks.
Cheers.

Re: Jerky IMDB trailers (HD)

Might be worth checking what background processes are running when you get the problem?  I keep having to switch off my ZoneAlarm firewall to stop vsmon.exe hogging my processor....

Re: Jerky IMDB trailers (HD)

Just a thought out of left field, is the laptop running on power saver mode when you try and watch the trailers? I had a similar issue when watching iPlayer on fibre but soon realised  the cpu speed wasn't set high enough.
